Fire Prevention
The Garfield Fire Prevention Bureau performs annual fire inspections of all commercial occupancies and multiple family dwellings. Certificate of Occupancy and Smoke Detector/Carbon Monoxide Inspections are performed for all new business openings and all commercial and residential resales. To apply for a Certificate of Occupancy please contact Ms. Deanna Eisenman at deisenman@garfieldnj.org to initiate this process. All inspections will be processed and conducted in a timely manner, so long as all the proper information has been obtained by Ms. Eisenman and the Garfield Building Dept. A fee schedule for Certificate of Occupancy or Smoke/Carbon Monoxide Detector Inspections can be obtained from the Garfield Building Dept.
The Garfield Fire Prevention Bureau conducts fire safety educational programs for elementary school children and seniors throughout the City of Garfield. Additionally, the Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for investigating the origin and cause of all fire and explosions within the City of Garfield.
