The Garfield Water System Took Permanent Action to Bring Our Water into Compliance with the Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA), and Perfluorooctanesulfonic Acid (PFOS) Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) in February 2023 and Executed all Corrective Actions Outlined in an Administrative Consent Order
You were previously notified that our water system violated the PFOA and PFOS MCL in 2021 to the beginning of 2023. We installed six New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) approved treatment vessels with media to remove PFOA and PFOS from the drinking water being supplied at TP003015 and placed the treatment into service on February 24, 2023. These treatment vessels cost 1.3 million dollars. We have been collecting compliance samples from March 2023 to date and have results of non-detect for PFOA and PFOS demonstrating the effectiveness of the newly installed treatment. These sample results for the water being supplied comply with the established PFOA and PFOS MCLs; therefore, in accordance with NJDEP, we have returned to compliance with the established PFOA and PFOS MCL violations and executed all corrective actions outlined in our Administrative Consent Order with the NJDEP.
At this time, Garfield Water System has no violations of the Federal and New Jersey Safe Drinking Water Standards or restrictions of drinking water usage.
