Garfield Groundwater Contamination Community Update April 2023
Posted April 25, 2023This spring, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will continue to address the source of groundwater contamination at the former E.C. Electroplating (ECE) property located at 125 Clark Street in Garfield, New Jersey.
EPA will use bioremediation technologies to treat the groundwater beneath the ECE property that is contaminated with chromium. The treatment will break down the chromium into less toxic substances. EPA will monitor the groundwater and soil gas while removing chromium from groundwater.
EPA will also address an underground heating oil storage tank located beneath the ECE property.
