Profile for: John P. Keating Jr. John has been very actively involved in the Garfield Emergency Services ever since joining the Garfield Volunteer Fire Dept. in 1988. He followed in his father’s footsteps by joining Fire Co. #3. Serving Fire Company #3 in the capacity of, Lieutenant, Engineer, Captain 2003 to Present, Assistant Fire Chief 1993 to 1996 & 1998 to 2001, Chief of Department in 1997 & 2002, Garfield Police Officer 2000 to Present. John has been employed by the City of Garfield for 18 years. Serving the residents and taxpayers of Garfield in the Dept. of Public Works for 12 years before becoming a Garfield Police Officer in 2000 where he is currently assigned to the patrol division. Is a Member of the New Jersey State Fire Chiefs Association, South Bergen Fire Chief’s Aid Association, and the Garfield Exempt Fireman’s Association, Bergen County Fire Chiefs Association, PBA Local #46, Emerald Society. Currently holds certification and training in the following areas: Basic Police Officer Training, Firefighter 1, 2, & 3, Multiple Advanced Firefighting courses, Emergency Medical Technician, CPR & Defibulator, Basic Emergency Management, Hazard Materials Awareness & Operations, Incident Command & Incident Management, Vehicle Extrication Technician, Swift Water Rescue Technician, BS in Criminal Justice, And many other miscellaneous Emergency Service Courses On the personal side John is married, to Ursula his wife of 5 years, and has 1 wonderful daughter, Jordyn 3 years old. He was raised in Garfield and attended Garfield Public Schools. |
