Art has been actively involved in the Garfield Emergency Services ever since joining the Garfield Volunteer Fire Dept. in August of 1974. Starting his fire dept. service with Fire Co #5 where he expanded his emergency services knowledge. Serving Fire Company #5 in the capacity of Lieutenant 1977 to 1979, Assistant Fire Chief 1980 to 1983 & 1983 to 1988, Chief of Department in 1984 & 1989, and President 1976, 1990 - 1992, 1996 - 1997.

Art is currently employed by the City of Garfield, Police Dept. as a PST/Dispatcher.

Served the Garfield Volunteer Ambulance Corps from 1984 to 1990 as a senior member, Emergency Medical Technician, and Crew Chief.

Is a member of the New Jersey Fire Chiefs Association, Life Member & Past President of the South Bergen Fire Chief's Aid Association, and a member of the Garfield Exempt Fireman's Association.

Served as Garfield OEM Coordinator from 1985 to 1988.

Currently holds certification and training in the following areas: Firefighter 1 & 2, Multiple Advanced Firefighter courses, Multiple Advanced OEM administrative and management courses, First Aid & CPR, Advanced fire service administrative and management courses, Basic Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Dispatch, Basic Special Police Officer Training, Hazard Materials Operations Level 2, Incident Command & Incident Management, Coordination of EMS in Mass Casualty Incidents, Emergency Communication Officer, Staging Area Manager, Shelter Operations, and many other miscellaneous Emergency Services Courses.

On the personal side Art is married to Debbie, his wife of 25 years, and has 2 wonderful children, a son, Chris 22 y/o and a member of Garfield Fire Company #5 and a daughter Dana 19 y/o.
