| Mayor Frank J. Calandriello | 
Frank J. Calandriello, Mayor of Garfield, New Jersey was born in September 1958 and is a lifelong resident of Garfield. He and his wife, Joni have been married for twenty one years and have one son, Frankie. He attended Our Lady of Mount Virgin School and is presently a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church. He graduated from Garfield High School where he lettered in track and field, and football. He graduated from Upsala College in 1980 with a B.A. in management. He is President of Frankie’s Express Inc., a state licensed moving and storage company and F & M Renting and Leasing which was named after his deceased parents, Frank and Marlene Calandriello. He also has a NJ real estate license. After graduating from college, Frank wanted to give back to his community by working with children. He joined the Garfield Junior Boilermakers football organization where he coached children ages eight to twelve for fourteen years. He taught them the fundamentals of the sport along with the importance of teamwork, discipline, respect and sportsmanship which resulted in a super bowl championship for which they were honored in Trenton by the NJ State Assembly. Frank has been a trustee for the Boys and Girls Club of which he has served as vice-president and has chaired the Buildings and Grounds Committee for several years. He has recently received the “2002 Columbus Day Parade Community Service Award” in recognition as an outstanding community leader. He served as a Commissioner on the Garfield Housing Authority for eight years of which he was Chairman for one year. In 1996 Frank was elected to the Garfield Council and served as Deputy Mayor for four years. He and his father, Frank B. Calandriello were the first father and son to serve simultaneously in the State of New Jersey. They were re-elected in May of 2000 and he received the unanimous vote by the Council to serve as Mayor. In 1998 he was appointed by Governor Whitman to the Passaic Valley Sewerage Authority and is presently serving as Commissioner. He has served on the Bergen County Construction Board of Appeals and is presently serving on the Garfield Planning Board, Garfield Library Board, Garfield Boys and Girls Coaches Association and Redevelopment Authority. |
